The Safety Training and Aquatic Rescue (STAR) online course equips parents and caregivers with the practical tools they need to prevent drowning and other water-related accidents. This engaging course is designed to be easy to follow and empowers you with lifesaving skills that meet expert recommendations, including those of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Drowning Prevention Alliance, the Starfish Aquatics Institute, the US National Water Safety Action Plan, and related international organizations.

Objectives

  • Learn what drowning really looks like - it is more difficult to see than you think.
  • Discover simple tools you can use from dry land to help in a water emergency.
  • Find out why using a flotation device is key before trying to help someone in the water.
  • Learn how to help a person who may be injured after diving into shallow water until medical professionals arrive.
  • Get tips on safely getting someone out of the water after a rescue.
  • Get an introduction to rescue breathing and CPR so you can prepare for a drowning emergency.

We collect personally identifiable information that you provide to us. Personally identifiable information is information that tells us who you are such as your name and your e-mail address and any Training Center affiliation. We may collect this information when you register to use the SAI eLearning site and when you update and/or modify information.

For example, we may use the information you submit when registering for a course to establish your online learning account, to send you information about how to access your course, and/or to contact you directly about products or services that you may be interested in. We may use non-personally identifiable aggregate information to help us run and maintain the Site, study traffic patterns and generally learn about how learners are using the SAI eLearning site. We may also use such information for purposes of system administration, to improve the design and content of SAI eLearning, and/or to enable us to personalize your eLearning experience.

Except as provided in this Privacy Policy, (a) we do not sell, rent or trade with unaffiliated third parties any personally identifiable information that you provide to us through the SAI eLearning Portal, and (b) we do not share such information with third parties.
